Webbed Site

I mentioned in an earlier post that though I haven't had very much of a presence here at DW recently, (the lack of writing and reading in my life rn lmao) I have been working on other things!
And now I'm finally ready to share the beginnings of my Neocities website! \o/

Hoorah!     Hoorah!     Hoorah!

My permanent second monitor has really been so beneficial! It's a pretty big screen so it's really easy to have a lot of space for working in Visual Studio Code and seeing live updates at the same time. This is actually the 2nd website I made. While I was making the first one I had to minimize, maximize, minimize ad nauseam, making it annoying to work on stuff. And that website is a disaster regardless let's not talk about it lol.

I worked hard on this one, but also it was easier because I had more experience. I knew a handful of HTML when I decided I wanted to make a website. Then I found out I needed to actually learn what the heck CSS is/does. THEN I found out I need to learn Javascript too! Phew. I am but a computer fool. But hey, not bad for having only started really learning in February of this year???
I really really tried my best to make it responsive while keeping the layouts I liked. And of course I had to add lightmode buttons once I learned that. Anything cool I learn I just want to add it lol.

The page I like the best is the Wandering Stars Collection one, just because it's pretty even though it's so simple. I'm excited to start making a character directory. No idea how I'm going to go about the layout, but I definitely want it to be pretty lol.

I did kind of want to go for that retro web look, but 1) I wasn't on the internet when the original geocities was poppin' so I have so little interaction with those kinds of websites and 2) I learned all my web aesthetic from tumblr themes. Whattayagonnado??
But at the same time, my "dream" was to make a website where every page is completely different lol. This one just has some disparate sections. But I like it. I'm having a lot of fun with this site.

(I also took a small stab at python (again) (and if I hadn't done that the Javascript stuff I was looking at was really gonna confuse me) but that's a whole 'nother cat in another bag. The first time I tried python a few years ago I didn't understand a lick of it so I quit lmao.)

Anywho.

No need to read my fic, but have a poke around if ya like and click the fun little buttons.

This is a great website! I especially like the easy option of flicking between dark and light modes. Good idea, and doubly so when it's a website with tonnes of text.

I am very [eyes] over the forthcoming character directory.

Cute!! I still have fond memories of authors' websites so I love to see a comeback. I think the theme is retro without being eye-searing lmao

I'm impressed you've taught yourself to make a website from scratch too....most CSS I know is c+ping tumblr themes
