I finally really really ran out of bookshelf space. Even with all my books squished together and on top of each other. Even with a couple of vanity shelves on the wall with manga lining them. I have too many books for the amount of shelf space.

In 2018 I started reading Kindle books because I was running out of physical space. Started really utilizing my local library soon after that too. And yet, here I am two years later with no more space.
I even have a stack of books in the closet 😭

The last time I cleaned out my collection was March 2019 I think. I remember donating a brand new book that sucked to the library and I sold all my Vampire Knight volumes ✌ I have another bundle of books to give away, but world things happened. So that pile has been in a bankers box in the corner of my room since April :^\

I still need to buy a few more volumes of Kuroko's Basketball and I am absolutely buying the Blue Wraith omnibus in September. So I went out today and bought another bookshelf. Another bookshelf I am going to stuff FULL of books lmao. But this means I need to clean and sort through what I have once more. The donation pile may get larger. Out of all the books I physically own only about 30 are unread though so I think I'm doing really good on that front 👍

i already needed to get a larger bookshelf before COVID... and then being inside all the time = acquiring more books... so yeah my book collection is currently arrayed across a variety of coffee tables, in closets, etc, so i feel you :P

I ordered quite a few books over the last few months too. Caught up on some manga series and I hate when all the volumes of a singe title don't fit on a single row. I already have several titles pushed into the deep recesses of the shelf while my favorites are displayed in front of them, but now that three volumes of KNB don't fit in the line (and I have a few more to buy) that was the last straw with trying to squeeze everything in there.

We also decided to rearrange the shared space a while ago and that meant tossing an ugly old worn bookshelf from the living room on which I had many art books. Having to put those back in my own room caused me a small crisis and I got rid of clothes and other things to fit them. Priorities lmao.

I tried so hard to not buy another bookcase, but now I just need to not put the donation pile books back onto the shelf xD

That's an impressive accomplishment, but yay for new shelves! I'm guessing any time you move house you get a solid workout just from transferring the library?

My secret to success is that I already donated a lot of the ones I hadn't read after years of them sitting on my shelf unopened. Mostly partially read true crime and random novels I picked up from dollar stores :^p

Oi yeah, I remember trying to pick up a box and almost dying. You pick up one and it's so light so somehow you foolishly don't expect a box full to make you keel over lol.

Except... I do own a lot more oversized books now in comparison to last time I moved (;'~')

The trick is to only ever half-fill a box with books, and fill the rest with things like linen or lunch boxes ;)

I can relate to this. XD I've been holding back a bit on buying as many books as I want as well because I have limited space and limited bookcases, but... yeah. I'm still buying books. XD I also use the library all the time and digital books, but that doesn't seem to have much impact. If anything, physical library books might be a bad idea because they take up even more space... Hmm... Although, this might be more a problem for me because I work at one and therefore there is constant temptation.

I guess in a way it's a good problem to have, though! There are a couple of books I haven't read on my shelf yet, but I've done a decent job there. I've read all the manga, and there sure is a lot of that, too. ^^"

I think the library ended up being my downfall because now that I'm looking through my books again it turns out most of them are from the library's bookstore xD
How could I resist fifty cent paperbacks!? Or participating in the silent auctions!?
I also noticed that I don't even physically own most of my favorite novels because I borrowed them from the library in the first place!! lmao Truly an invaluable service and I salute you for working at one. (^v^)7

One of the better problems to have, yes! Ahh I have a lot of manga too. I stuffed a lot of them on one big shelf and it's bowing under the weight lol (; 3 ;)

Haha, the library bookstore sure is full of temptation. XD I always check out books before buying them, so there are some favorites of mine I haven't yet gotten my hands on either, so I get that. And thanks! ^^
