To hardly any surprise I find Silver Snow to be the weakest of the routes.

Cindered Shadows came out while I was in the middle of my GD playthrough and I didn't end up finishing either of those until this week.

When the Cindered Shadows DLC came out I started playing it, but at some point it annoyed me and I put it down. The other day I picked it back up and finished it.

The maps were interesting even if the story really wasn't. I didn't like the addition of a new set of saints when I was already confused enough in the main campaign lol. The villain was so predictable and looked like the secret fifth Beatle. In any case, I don't even remember why it annoyed me in the first place, but I actually enjoyed it when I came back to it.

The escape map and the blood vortex map were my favorite maps. As for the characters, Yuri was pretty interesting and I'm curious to see more about him in the main campaign through his supports. I think I'll recruit the Ashen Wolves for my Silver Snow playthrough.

Loved the Black Eagles route way more than I thought I would! While I didn't love all the characters in the house (linhardt 😒) I had a blast. The maps were same hat as the Blue Lions route, but playing on hard was so much better. I had a lot of fun. Tell me why the paralogue maps are better than the main campaign though lmao. The game was so much harder without a pegasus knight and a dancer lol. (Decided not to make Dorothea a dancer again since I had recruited her & made her one in the Blue Lions route.)

I didn't recruit anyone this time so the very last map was almost impossible to get through with everyone alive on classic. Peg knights showing up on my backline and to the right, SO ANNOYING!!! 4 mages, 1 fighter, 1 cav, 1 wyvern, 1 tank, and 1 bow all with bad growths since midgame almost all got WRECKED by those bastards LMAO terrible.
I eventually did it after several tries though (yay) and even got my preferred end pairs heh.
I love love love Hubie and Bernie together 😊 (also I didnt get to see Hubie & Ferdie's A support so I still don't know why ppl ship them lol)

There were some things that Black Eagles lacked, like a cool cutscene before Byleth goes into the 5-year coma and map_spoilers )

However, I loved the ending so much more than the Blue Lions one. I S Supported Edelgard too and it was amazing. (Didn't S Support Dimitri in the Blue Lions route bc I played as a man. Maybe S Supporting him would have made it more impactful 🤔 but that's lazy writing lol). I actually believed Edelgard's reliance on and love of Byleth more than Dimitri's. Also Edelgard's "lets return in 5 years" speech hit me harder than Dimitri's, but Dimitri's timeskip reveal was way better.

Though the Black Eagles initially had a group dynamic that didn't feel as fun and cohesive as the Blue Lions , I fell in love with them and grew to like some of them quite unexpectedly, namely Hubert & Caspar (I already loved Ferdie & Bernie was easy to like) but some of them I didn't quite ever care for (Lindhart... & Petra was a little meh). The storyline was great, I loved it a lot. Rhea was hot when she wanted to rip my heart from my chest 😅💦. And yeah, I liked killing the Blue lions lol. Sylvain's confrontation dialogue for F!Byleth was funny. Oh my god, Dedue tho wow he did that. But I didn't feel as sad killing them as I did when I had to kill Ferdinand in the Blue Lions route lol. Maybe because I just missed recruiting him by a hair and then he was the very first unit I had to kill lol. I love Ferdinand von Aegir.

I have to say that even though I loved all the Blue Lions characters and they had great growths and killed everything on sight and the storyline did make me real emotional at times, the Black Eagles route is my favorite so far.
I am going to replay the Blue Lions route again with a female Byleth after I finish all the other routes and maaayyybbbee will replay the other routes a second time as the opposite genders too. Just started my Golden Deer playthrough though in which I think I'm going to recruit my favorite characters in contrast to my no recruitment BE run and my one recruited unit in BL lol. Also I'm thinking about ranking my favorite characters when I finish the Golden Deer route. Route_Spoilers? )

Finished the Blue Lions route.

Story )

Overall, I love the Blue Lions. The characters were interesting, fun, cute, and badass on the battlefield. I had fun on this route and I'm definitely curious about the other routes. Especially the Black Eagles. Essentially, since I've only done one route, I haven't finished the game lol.

Well, I've made it to the TIME SKIP and I'm around 30 hours in, somehow, I think.

I'm honestly enjoying it a lot, despite some gripes with the overall gameplay.

Right from the gate I was enjoying Three Houses immensely. The characters are great and it's pretty chill. I was overwhelmed at first by all the new features, but soon got the hang of it. Read more... )

What it's lacking in map design (as of the point in the game I'm currently at) it's making up for greatly with characters and other mechanics so far. The story is... going... but I am excited to see what happens so that's great!

I wavered back and forth for the longest time about whether or not I was going to buy a Switch in preparation for Animal Crossing next March. Since I had the money right now for the console and who knows if I would have enough for the console AND Animal Crossing in March I decided to just jump the gun and bite the bullet, hah.
Now, I could have tried to wait for a Black Friday sale or something, but again that's still about four months away. And the new Fire Emblem game comes out in a week.... So I bought myself the console and pre-orded Fire Emblem Three Houses.

I only actually got interested in Three Houses last month with the E3 2019 trailer. It looked so cool and Dimitri looked so badass. Dimitri's pre-timeskip sprite reminds me so much of Laurent. Which isn't such a jump since the concept artist for Three Houses actually drew the manga version of Captive Prince lmao. I just hope I don't feel like a fool when I get my hands on that game. Like when I bought all three version of Fates and it was the worst ever 🤦‍♂️ I knew it was gonna be bad, but I went and did that anyway.
Fire Emblem sure knows my damn weakness with these two games though. I basically bought Fates because of Xander and now Three Houses because of Dimitri lol 🤗 In general, blonde haired dude is not strictly my type, but there's something about these ones. I think it's probably the tragedy that'll no doubt befall them. Xander's entire personality when you're doing the Hoshido route is ridiculous, but he suffers so well. (And actually Conquest wasn't as bad as the other two versions.)
I want to see what Dimitri's deal is. I want to experience that for myself. I could always learn via social media osmosis, but I'm the type that absolutely has to experience things for myself even if it ends up being terrible, smh. So, yes, I'm weak and I caved into buying a whole system and pre-ordering a game I'm slightly worried is gonna be bad.

I thought that I'd feel way more guilty about spending so much money than I do. I actually don't feel guilty at all really. Every once in a while I get anxious about how much my savings has dropped in one blow, but I still have a pretty good amount in there. Plus, I know that in a couple of months I'm not going to have even an inkling of buyer's remorse because the same thing happened with the PS4 and the XBONE. (I can't believe I own the triumvirate of systems! It makes me feel like a jerk?? I have never had all three prominent consoles at the same time in my life! I didn't ever think I'd ever have an XBONE either, but my brother was selling his at the exact same time Dragon Age 2 became backwards compatible. I think he planned that; he knew I couldn't resist!) I'm actually feeling excited right now for Animal Crossing and the Harvest Moon Mineral Town remake. I think these popular new games will be a good way to reconnect with some of my friends who live too far away.
