Haven't really been playing or even logging in to TWST in a while now. Briefly tried to do the last cooking event, but I couldn't find where the miraheze wiki went. Right here jsyk. So I gave up pretty quick because I didn't want to trial and error the correct recipes for the event when it's already annoying enough knowing the recipes beforehand!
Then the other day I saw on the twitter account that Rook's club card was the featured gacha and I thought, "Well, I like him well enough. I'll try for it. Not like I really care that much anymore". I mean I've pretty much gotten all the cards I wanted! The wiki was great for planning what to spend my gems on and I only really like Octavinelle and only some of their cards at that. So I throw some gems at the Rook Club Card gacha. No dice...well in for a penny in for a pound.... I did 100 rolls and I got... SSR Dorm Trey lmao. I was so sure I would pull Rook, because I've pretty much pulled every card I did 100 rolls for! Except for Halloween Cater and Riddle, but I was okay with that. I'm okay with not getting the Rook card too, I actually needed a Trey SSR, so I still won.
But then the new Halloween event comes out. I had heard people talking about saving their gems for "the masquerade" cards and I assumed it was the introduction of anime Notre Dame's anime Frollo and it is. Okay. But one of the masquerade cards is Azul. Oh boy, I didn't know that. Well, fine, I'll spend the rest of my keys and gems to pull it, it's pretty cute.
( Results )Okay SO, as part of procrastination I've been logging into Twisted Wonderland to get the daily items and do the weekly missions. Birthday Azul at the end of February followed by the Tsumtsum tie-in banners DEPLETED my key stash so I need more gems as a buffer until I can store up some 10-keys. I did most of the Tsumderland event, but I can't remember if I actually finished it/got all the goodies because I skipped all of the story (no time for reading) and I don't think I ever upgraded any of the event card's spells with the tickets or whatever OOPs. I usually use event cards as freebie max spell levels for the "general mission" prizes, but oh well I guess. Hopefully they do a rerun? But I don't really care because I did manage to get Riddle and Floyd's tsumtsum cards just like I wanted ^v^
( Spoiler card images under cut )After Tsumderland I neglected the game, besides logging in, for a bit more. But the Chapter 6 rewards cut off is April 5 I think so I jumped back in for that. And I've been skipping all the story because there's no time for that but... holy hell this chapter is so annoying. It's got this one ANNOYING minigame that kept frustrating me (the galaga-like). And there's also battles where you don't get to pick your characters and then a battle tower-like event, which weren't even hard compared to that damn minigame it kept taking me forever to beat. Now I'm just waiting for this time-locked portion to finish and then I think it's the boss fight, hopefully. This chapter made me dislike Idia.... I might go back and actually read it later though because there's a lot of Azul content I had to skip through hahaha.

I'm loving Twisted Wonderland which I find so funny when I was so sure it was going to be boring. The gameplay is not that boring (better than Enstars at the very least) and I find the characters/story really funny. The best part tho is that I don't really care about a lot of characters so I'm not anxious to get them. Sure I like the card suit guys from Heartslyabul (Alice in Wonderland), but I LOVE the Octavinelle (The Little Mermaid) dorm members so much more. There were special pulls for them recently and I didn't get the SSR Floyd; I did want it—I rolled 4 times for it—but I wanted Azul's Dorm Clothes card MUCH MORE so I saved all the rest of my gems for him, didn't even roll for Jade at all when his turn came up after Floyd.

I was so surprised! I was happy, but not like ecstatic cuz this game doesn't mean too much to me like other gacha games have in the past.
I was also at a loss at this though because I expected to become gemless trying to get this Azul, but I still have a good chunk of gems and I don't know if I should roll for more stuff or just save them. It's actually a little tedious leveling up the new SR cards I got recently so I think I will be saving until—who knows when! I don't care much for getting Azul's birthday card nor do I think I will care much about the bean or culinary cards. That means I will be hanging onto these gems until what? Floyd and Jade's birthday?? Though I don't care too much for their birthday card art either (do like them more than Azul's though). Nor am I interested in their Halloween cards at all. 🤔
I do like Deuce and Ace, and maybe Rook and Malleus, but enough to go gem-broke for them? Mmm probably not. The next story section is the Scarabia (Aladdin) guys so I expect they'll be getting their featured banners throughout March and I suppose Pomefiore (Snow White) will be after them(?) so Rook has until then to convince me if I actually like him or not lol.
I got the celebratory key from finishing the Octavinelle storyline and I don't know who to trade it for! I guess I should get Ceremonial Robes Riddle since he will Buddy pair with my SSR Azul (double water and double fire cards(?) interesting). But then that leaves the Pre-reg Key reward we're getting tomorrow; who will I use that on??????
My SR+ roster so far if there's any suggestions for what other Ceremonial Robe character to use that 2nd key on. Rn I'm thinking Ace since I don't have an SR of him yet or Leona??

I pre-registered for the English release of Disney's Twisted Wonderland phone game mostly to add my +1 and help peeps unlock the rewards for hitting pre-reg milestones. I knew basic stuff about the game like: it has Disney villains(?) but they're all ikemen now, and it takes place at a school with different dorms. But I had no idea what the gameplay was like. Ever since it released in JPN the game has been plagued with bad summaries such as it being an otome game (it is not).
I—in no way—expected it to be as fun of a game as it is. There's the reading the story parts of course, but then there's two gameplay types: battles and rhythm.
The rhythm game parts are my favorite. The best part is after you complete a rhythm game section in the main story you can then play the rhythm game part as much as you want! No timer, no spending in-game currency to have a go. It's the best!! There's different styles to the rhythm games too adding so much flavor. I enjoy the version where you have to click right on the shrinking note (the purple note games)

I've also been enjoying the humor of the writing and the translation choices. The battle parts are ok. The thing you need the timed items for is leveling up your characters and I can see how eventually I'm going to be ground to a halt in the story (which you can also read as much as you like per day. No tickets needed.) because of my characters and oof we'll see if I can get past that hump. I didn't expect to actually like the game and I feel like I totally bungled the infinite re-rolling free roll they so generously give you because I didn't care at the time. Now I've got no cards that mesh for the "buddy magic" thing—oops.
There's some stuff I still do not understand though. I have no idea what the waffles and stuff do for leveling up characters. Oh, I just found out right now by searching it. I don't remember the game explaining what half of the collected items do. What are the thaumarks for?? I couldn't find a good basic guide to the game, but I'll keep looking I guess.
I can feel my old Love Live days creeping in the back of my mind though. I don't spend money on gacha games, but that doesn't mean they don't drive me to some unhealthy habits.
