I went up to my dad's house for a couple days. I only had internet on my phone because his wifi is terrible.

I, uh, thought I'd get a lot done without it, but I ended up playing with the dogs all day 😭💗 Then scrolled the apps on my phone anyway. The bed in the guest room was atrocious too, like sleeping on a brick it aged me 20yrs every time I lied down 😭👴 So I'm pretty tired now that I'm back home. It's funny because I planned to do a lot of things up there, but I ended up doing none of that....

I took a book I need to finish, my switch (to finish a 3H route), my writing notebook, and my tablet (to do writing). I played Animal Crossing for a few hours one day and didn't touch the book the entire time. I did write a little, but I thought I was going to write way more ahhhah.

What I did do was pick plums from the front yard & eat them. There used to be a few fruit trees in the yard, but now there's only little plums, they were delicious and I realized I really missed eating fresh fruit right off the plant, wow. Haven't an orange or even a lemon from a tree since like over 10 years ago!? Played with the dogs, of course. Put some music on my dad's Ipod for him and burned a CD for him (The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars surprisingly! I didn't know my dad even liked Bowie.) Watched Aquaman on a CRT TV (it was so tiny, the picture didn't even fill the whole frame lol). One night we ordered from a Red Baron pizza place up there, my dad was excited about it, but then disappointed because he said it wasn't as good as usual and he was embarrassed to have recommended it (it was good pizza anyway though). And I'd only write from 11PM to like 11:30PM right before bed on the back killer. It was an overall good time tho! But I am also glad to be home (even though I now know my bed is too short for me, it's so comfy).

...plums straight from the tree sounds delightful. i've been apple-picking and blueberry-picking before but don't think i've ever tried fresh oranges or plums! *puts on post-pandemic to-do list*

Ooh, apple & blueberry picking sound fun. I want to go strawberry-picking. There are a lot of places around here to do so, but I just haven't gone...yet! There are orange trees everywhere in the part of CA I'm in; we would just pick and eat oranges all day as kids. There's something so refreshing about eating fruit you picked yourself.
