sunshine_challenge : Prompt 3: Yellow
I gotta say, this is a hard one 🤔 I guess the first thing I thought about was The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. To me Yellow has always been a color of joy, until I found out that in this book it represents sickness and decay. I didn't even realize that myself, when the teacher told us I was shocked. Yellow? Bad?? Weird! I honestly can't see it. Even though paper yellows and that's not good, it just doesn't click in my brain! Yellow is happy!
Something else I've thought of too is Kuroko's Basketball. One of my favorite anime/manga series! A sports manga about a high school basketball team trying to win the national tournament. Their rivals? The best high school basketball players in the country (thankfully all split into separate high schools, but they all used to be on one team that dominated the middle school circuit). The five rivals and the protagonist (their former sixth man) and the deuteragonist (a new arrival on the scene) all have anime hair colors. Light blue, dark red, red, green, blue, yellow, & purple. (Red & yellow are technically natural hair colors, but this is anime y'know lmao.) So many colors right? So where does the yellow come in and be important? My favorite character of the series? NO. (The green one is my favorite of these.) The yellow haired character is named Kise Ryouta The eyelashes on this guy right? His eyelashes are why I checked out the series in the first place. He didn't end up my favorite character, but the yellow one is still special. Joy!

Date: 2020-07-11 09:05 pm (UTC)I've never heard of this anime, but I have very rarely delved into sports series. I've recently tried Haikyuu and have liked it more than I thought I would. Would you recommend this one to folks?

Another thing I love is that the fantastic elements are rooted in real athletic feats. It's very apparent in the group known as the "Uncrowned Kings" while the "Generation of Miracles" takes it to the extreme. But you don't have to know (or learn) anything about basketball to enjoy the games xD
It's overall a very fun and exciting series in both terms of the sport and characters!!
