Saw this interesting post on Tumblr about making fake text messages in AO3 works. Like so:

Though I've never tried such a thing in a fic and I don't foresee myself needing to (given my fandoms 😂) I thought it was really interesting that this incorporates an AO3 work skin. And I didn't realize you could have skins for individual works, I thought it was always just referring to a complete site skin 😂 I honestly still don't know much about AO3.
HERE is the post which includes a handy spreadsheet that formats the HTML for you (so you don't have to type in all the <span></span> etc yourself. And they've included links to the essential CSS styles you need in your work skin as well ofc.
I've never seen a fic with its own work skin btw. If y'all know any cool ones, I'd love to see them!
