A little update since it's been a month.

I haven't read anything besides technical non-fiction so nothing to write a review about; even though I have two recently published novels out from the library; I guess they aren't that popular since I've been able to renew them so far; they're fairly short ~300 pages which is like a weekend read; one of them seems like it's gonna be really bad and I only picked it for the title so I should probably just return it, but I might read it; I haven't decided if I want to put myself through that lol. Besides that I also bought myself two novels in French that I'm excited to read: Adriel by Mx Léo and La Tentation des Templars by L.P. Hurel.
Adriel is about a genderfluid(? not sure yet if trans or genderfluid. Because part of the plot conceit is that Adriel uses their afab identity to go to balls, but it's because their parents make them do this and I don't know yet how they feel about it!) character with magic powers who gets embroiled in some court intrigue/politics. LTT is about a young woman who disguises herself as her murdered twin brother in order to escape an arranged marriage and thus sets out to join the Templars because that was what her brother was going to do and while there she discovers something amiss. I'm excited to try out my French reading comprehension with two modern novels; I'd been reading old short stories through Gutenberg and they're kind of a pain re: formatting, so I'm looking forward to a modern style of writing.

The technical books I've been reading are about Python and general computer stuff. The History of the Computer by Rachel Ignotofsky was rather good. I thought that since it was a book aimed at younger audiences that it would be a quick read, but it was kind of dense despite the large areas dedicated to illustrations. I learned some stuff from it that I kind of... peripherally(?) knew lol. (Also it mentioned the USAF's super computer built with 1,760 Playstation 3s, which I find funny and a nice conversation starter, heh. I mentioned it at work and learned that someone I never would have pegged as a "gamer" has her own PS5 separate from her husband's lol.)

Rn I'm taking a formal class on Python and it's not my first tango with this language, but I just feel sooooo outpaced by the pace of the class at this point in it. (two weekends I would have dedicated to the class; I spent doing fun shit one on a birthday and one on a wedding). Thus, I'm already missing an assignment and I want to scream, I'm not used to doing bad at schoolwork lmaooo. And so I feel like a lot of my time has either been consumed with Python or procrastinating on Python. It's one of those things where if I'm doing anything else I feel like I should be learning Python instead. I can't read a book rn because I should be learning Python, I can't play a game rn because I should be learning Python. And what I end up doing is scrolling the web aimlessly and then feeling bad that I haven't done anything worthwhile all day. I haven't even tried out the newest Sims 4 update with the babies, which I'm curious about because it's probably going to fuck up my Test of Time challenge + the other day I tried to even run the game, but of course I need to fix all my mods AGAIN; it's simply too much when I shouldn't even play the Sims at all because there's definitely no time for that. And oh god, writing? I don't know her.

Another fucked up thing is that my work schedule got changed recently because we lost a temp so I go in toward the afternoon and that fucks me up so hard, bc I sleep in → go to work → dinner → try to "do something I'm supposed to," but mostly fuck around on the internet → go to sleep. My day is all ruined lmao. I need to do something before work besides sleep and something after work besides scroll tumblr! Or else there isn't enough time for all my silly hobbies! (+ also might be getting sick, the weather has been all over the place)

But hey! I've gotten pretty good at touch-typing over this month which is one of my computer-y goals! And I also got some new spices from a local place that are soooo yummy 😋 (Maybe more on the spices and those aforementioned weekends in a FLocked post? 🤔💭)
