Bioware's Youtube channel has put out a new video:

I for one am excited (but of course I am). The concept art shown in this video is so lovely (the concept art for the series has always been lovely). It looks likes there is going to be a lot more exploration of Dwarven society based on the art and in-game renders they're showing here.
Everything they're saying about the game makes me think, "Dragon Age 2 redux" from having "no power", and that it's going to "focus on the people around you and the friends and family you've made." BUT I shouldn't get my hopes up. I shouldn't.
"We want characters to be either loved or hated" ah, I can already imagine the discourse *sob*. Not that I don't personally love characters that make you go hmm, but I already feel like there are characters the fandom can't have civil conversations about. *sigh*
It looks like some of the characters from Tevinter Nights may have made their way into the game (put a pin in this because I haven't finished reading that lmao. For some reason it's so hard for me to get through Dragon Age books urgh). I'm thinking maybe the Warden and the archer from the cover at least.
Lastly, I'm very excited to see Feketekuty on the writing team and what looks like a skeleton/Mortalitasi companion. I love skeletons. I want a skeleton boyfriend, please and thank you Bioware.

Date: 2020-08-28 06:38 pm (UTC)Unfortunately, yes. Any time I see someone foolishly bring up a controversial character or topic in the DA Discord server I'm in, I have to leave like I just saw a school of piranhas swim in. Even though I certainly have my own opinions I'm not going to wade in there. It's not worth fighting about honestly.
Dragon Age has fooled me in the past by making me think we were going to learn more about Dwarven society and then there was nothing. So even though there's Dwarven elements in the art and what seems to be a Titan there are no Dwarven characters to behold. Hopefully that changes in the future, they do still seem to be early in production and once again simply confirming that they are in production rather than showing us anything completed at this point.
It looks like this image is Isabela and Dorian in an underwater scene (along with the archer and the Mortalitasi spirit). If yet another character from DA2 is brought back as a companion I will rejoice!
I'm looking forward to the tidbits they will share with us over the next two years. I love how everyone always get excited again every time a little biscuit of news is released \(@^0^@)/

Date: 2020-08-29 05:39 pm (UTC)Yeah, it's super early in the process, but it's fun to wonder about. I'd definitely be happy if we at least had more dwarven companions (or maybe even a romance option?).
Ahh, Isabela and Dorian would make for a great duo, I'm thinking. XD Those two would be awesome.
Same here! Super excited. ^^

Date: 2020-09-02 09:42 am (UTC)I join you in the philosophy that we should speak more about the things we love than the ones we hate. Alas, alack, fandom will be fandom and do as fandom does.
Tevinter has strong ties to the dwarven empire so I'm expecting more dwarves if the game is set in Tevinter. Bioware need only deliver and I hope they do!

Date: 2020-09-03 09:05 am (UTC)Knowing how much tends to change from concept stage to actual end result I can't bring myself to pay much attention to these sorts of early glimpses BUT you do have my ears pricked at the idea of something more like DAII in focus / structure.

All the language used to highlight the best parts of DA2 are being used to describe this game and it's making it sound too good. Lol.
I'm actually not too fond of everything in the concept art, so I'm interested to see what stays and what goes.
All I want is to go to Weisshaupt and it looks like there's concept art for it so I hope that stays in.
